Gini Ainley, vice-chair of Lanteglos by Fowey Parish Council, highlights that despite the beautiful surroundings, Polruan is a high area of deprivation for services and housing, with a third of permanent homes being social housing. For these residents, and the significant percentage of elderly people, many in their nineties, losing the local surgery means a severe barrier to accessing crucial healthcare, undermining preventative care efforts and overall community wellbeing.
