The surrounding land, owned by Camborne Town Council, is frequently targeted by fly-tippers, adding to the sense of dilapidation. For residents of this historic mining heartland, this building is more than just concrete and timber; it is a monument to working-class resilience that desperately needs a modern home to keep its legacy beating.

Inside the gym, the physical decay vanishes beneath the relentless energy of training. Every evening, coach Paul Murray and a dedicated team of volunteers guide dozens of local children through their paces. The club has been a cornerstone of the community since 1965, moving to its current site in 1972. It is a place where local champions are forged. Take Kate Bridgen, who walked through the doors at 23 to find ‘therapy' and went on to win a British title. Today, she watches the next generation—some as young as eight—crammed into the tiny, decaying corridors alongside supportive parents. The club also hosts joint sparring sessions with visitors like the St Columb boxing club, fostering regional sportsmanship. For Paul Murray, the mission is simple: providing a safe, disciplined, and affordable outlet for kids who might otherwise have nowhere to go. In an area facing significant economic challenges, the boxing club offers vital structure, teaching manners, discipline, and emotional control. Yet, without a new venue, these coaches and volunteers will soon have no ring left to teach in.
