A Falmouth resident has received a suspended sentence following a disturbing street attack captured on video during the festive period. Abdulmutalip Kaya, 25, of Penryn, appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The incident, which occurred on Killigrew Street in Falmouth town centre on December 17th, involved Kaya kicking a defenceless victim, who was notably dressed as Santa Claus at the time. The court mandated a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years, along with 150 hours of unpaid community work. Crucially, Kaya has been ordered to pay £2,500 in compensation to the victim, acknowledging the physical and emotional distress caused by the assault. This outcome serves as a clear message that such acts of violence will not be tolerated within our community.
